Meet the Trainers

DJ Edwards


DJ is the Owner and Director of Push Performance. He played college baseball at Metro State University. He has his Performance Enhancement Specialist and United States Weight Lifting Certification. DJ has developed many programs for a wide range of elite athletes. He uses his knowledge in corrective exercise, flexibility limitations and biomechanics to develop personal programs for each client. He has developed the Elite Baseball Program and has had 11 Colorado baseball players drafted including three in the top three rounds. DJ also works with a handful of professional baseball athletes out of state in the Push Performance Satellite Program. He has worked with a over 100 baseball players at all levels in this program. DJ has also worked with multiple NFL and college football athletes. DJ not only works with high level athletes but he works with active adults and the general fitness population.

Bobby Layburn

Director of Soccer Performance

Bobby graduated in May 2009 from Lees McRae College with a B.S. in Sports Management and a Minor in Business. He is a Certified Personal Trainer and received his certification from the National Academy of Sports Medicine. He has played soccer at a high level both in college and in a semi-pro league. In addition he has attended specialized world class soccer training in Argentina.

Megan Casey


I was born and raised in Colorado. Growing up, I found myself through sports. I primarily focused on basketball and track and field. Track ended up being my true passion, which I competed in through the college level at the University of Northern Colorado. After graduating from college, my heart still had the desire to compete. I started off in boxing, but did not find joy in that. I then began running 5k/10k, which eventually led to a marathon, and multiple half marathons. I also competed in the obstacle course races such as the Tough Mudder, Spartan, and Warrior Dash (which I won my age group in). I have also recently found the sport of body building, and have competed in two shows in the women's physique category. I have a strong passion for fitness and competition, and love this lifestyle. I am currently finishing school for nutrition and dietetics, and am the Nutrition Director at Max Muscle South Metro. I have been personal training for the last 5 years as well and absolutely love the enjoyment of helping others reach their goals.


Brandon Monahan


Colorado born and raised. Kansas Wesleyan university graduate with degree in exercise science corporate fitness. Was a 4 year college starting pitcher with accomplishments from team captain to first team all conference and ranked top 10 in the nation for many pitching categories. Playing experience also at the professional level. Played in the NBC World Series 3 times, Certified personal trainer through NCSF, and also intern of push performance and also previous client of push performance. What made me go into training was being an athlete my whole life, I knew my home was a weight room, gym, or the baseball diamond, and that is where I wanted to be everyday. I want to be able to help athletes of all ages get better and thrive in tier sport and hopefully teach them something new and wish I would have learned when I was younger. I've Worked with kids of all ages for pitching lessons individually and coaching at the high school level. Offer video analysis during training and pitching lessons for further break down of movements to create optimal function, efficiency and prevent future injuries.

Hi! I am Texas born but have spent the last 20 years in Colorado and love it. I have an amazing husband and four awesome kids ages 16,14,10, and 8. Three boys and one girl. I have loved competing and training in sports since I was 8 years old. I excelled as a long distance runner and cross country and track became my passions throughout middle school and high school. After college, I competed more in mountain races, 10K's, sprint tri's and Tough Mudders because I loved the ruggedness of those races and the adventure that went with them. In the Fall of 2011, a fellow training friend asked if I would consider coaching which led me to completing my Level 1 Crossfit certification. I have enjoyed coaching and competing as a crossfit athlete, and last year I competed on a team at the Crossfit Regional games. Crossfit fed my need for variety, intensity and healthy competition to push myself beyond what I imagined.

I love coaching men, women, young athletes to reach their fitness goals, look good and feel great. I love inspiring my own four kids to play sports, be active and eat healthy and I do much of that leading by example. I am committed to my clients and love encouraging each individual to build their strength, push themselves to reach their fitness goals and see results. I will work with anyone who is determined to work at their goals and want to see change. I value and love the opportunity to motivate, inspire, encourage and challenge. I had the privilege to volunteer coach season 4 of ABC's Extreme Weight loss participants and enjoyed being a part of their fitness journey.

My connection to Push Performance came through Ashley, DJ's awesome wife! I have trusted DJ to train my two teenage boys and he has done a phenomenal job these past two years. Inspired by DJ, I have loved training others at this gym and have my own clients now. I love learning and I am finishing up my CSCS (Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist) this Spring. In regards to nutrition, as owner of Body and Home Health, I educate/coach others on quality proven supplements to increase energy, muscle recovery, cellular repair and optimize one's foundational health. Having good health is a blessing and worthy of one's sacrifice, time and investment. See you in the gym!


Chris Adams, CSCS

Sports Performance Coach

Born in Denver, Colorado. Chris graduated in 2013 from Metro State University with a degree in Exercise Science and a minor in Nutrition. He is a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist through NSCA. Chris has a passion of helping athletes reach their full potential and perform at the highest level. Throughout the years, Chris has participated in several sports including baseball, basketball, football, wrestling, and cross-country. He was also a competitor at an NPC competition in the Men’s Physique class. Chris has worked with athletes of all ages focusing on improving speed, agility, and biomechanics while increasing strength and power.
